ANGLING IN AUTUMN
The autumn pond is bleak and cold, its water
crystal clear,
There floats a tiny little sampan near.
Ripples of deep blue water curl with a puff
of wind slightly,
A yellow leaf in wind falls and glides down
noiselessly.
A layer of cloud drifts in the azure sky,
In the winding lane of bamboos, not a single
soul passes by.
Arms around knees, I loosely hold the pole
for a long while, in vain,
From nowhere, a fish bites at the roots of the
water hyacinths.
